Poetry Workshop at the Margaret River Library

Writing About Home: The Poetry of Complicated Journeys

Miriam will facilitate a workshop on the theme of ‘Writing About Home: The Poetry of Complicated Journeys’. This workshop will guide participants in finding their own voice and stories on this theme, with a focus on metaphor as a poetic device.

MIRIAM WEI WEI LO writes because life is too short to let it pass without comment. 

Miriam has an Honours degree from the University of Western Australia and a PhD from the University of Queensland. She teaches creative writing at Sheridan Institute of Higher Education and writes from a faith perspective that remains open to finding common ground with others.

Miriam is the author of ‘Against Certain Capture’ and more recently ‘Who Comes Calling?’.

Miriam has poems published in Westerly, The Australian, and on Poetry International Web; as well as in influential anthologies including Over There: Poems from Singapore and Australia (2008), The Penguin Anthology of Australian Poetry (2009), Contemporary Asian Australian Poets (2013), and The Fremantle Press Anthology of Western Australian Poetry (2017).
